Ivy House is situated in the tranquil hamlet of La Madelaine, and is only a few minutes walk away from the picturesque and historical Utah Beach. Here, whilst enjoying the beauty of the landscape, the visitor will also find the D.Day Museum, Monuments, and other artefacts from 1944, as well as a Bar/Restaurant. The hundred year old house - with its converted stables - which once stood in the midst of some desperate battles, now sits peacefully within extensive and attractive gardens, and is ideally placed for visiting many of Normandy's numerous and varied attractions. Accommodation is both luxurious and extremely comfortable.
The village of St.Mairie Du Mont, the first place to be liberated in June 1944, can be reached by car in only five minutes. St. Mere Eglise with its famous church tower that bears the effigy of American Parachutist John Steele, and its nearby Airborne Museum, will take about ten minutes travelling time. Bustling Bayeux with its ancient tapestry is an hour's drive away. Chateaux, parks and gardens, pretty towns and villages, and many sporting facilities are all within easy distance of Ivy House. Its position, set in some of Normandy's most exquisite countryside, makes it an excellent and relaxing base from which to explore this wonderful region.
