From Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport: By car it will take around 3 hours to reach us, alternatively you can catch a train to Carentan or Cherbourg but you will need to make arrangements to hire a car on arrival. From the Port of Le Havre: It will take around two and a half hours to reach us from Le Havre, this is probably the best way to get to us as the Ferry Company LD Lines runs from Portsmouth daily, this Ferry Company provides the cheapest Ferry Crossings to Normandy, it’s worth checking out their website at: http://www.ldlines.co.uk/?gclid=CO76jP7eiYUCFSP8PgodgiwrIA From Calais Ferry or Eurotunnel; From Calais it will take around four hours to get to Ivy House, the Ferries are very cheap to Calais, usually around £30 each way, but you do have some tolls to pay for the Pont de Normandie and some of the Motorways, these Tolls usually add up to about £15.
We are marked on this map. Click to enlarge. Directions Ivy House is just 40 minutes south of the Ferry Port of Cherbourg, and 1 hour from the Port of Caen. If you are arriving at Cherbourg... leave the terminal and follow the large green signs for Caen (N13). Stay on the N13 for about 30 minutes, you will pass the exits for Valognes, Montebourg and Ste Mere Eglise, you will see an exit for Utah Beach but ignore it and carry on until you see the next sign which will be for Carentan and St. Come du Mont, take this exit and when you reach the top of the slip road turn left. This road is the D913, the first small village you drive through will be vierville, five minutes later you will reach Ste Marie du Mont, keeping the church on your right go straight on and you will see a sign for Utah Beach. As you move out of the village you will be able to see the sea in front of you and on clear days Pointe du Hoc can be seen off to the right in the distance. As you approach Utah Beach you will pass the Danish memorial on your right (a bronze figure) take the next left which is sign posted “La Chapelle de Madeleine”, be careful as the signpost cannot be seen until you are almost past the turn! If you are arriving at the Port of Ouistreham (Caen) or Le Havre... it will take slightly longer, you will need to exit the N13 at the second junction after you have passed under the tunnel, the first exit you pass will be marked for Carentan Z.I. (Industrial Zone) the next exit will be for St Come du Mont and Utah Beach, then follow the instructions above. Ivy House is the 6 th house on the right handside, and has large black iron gates at the entrance.
